Regarding to the Great East Japan Earthquake
On 11 March 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck the northern part of Japan, and an ensuing massive tsunami swept the east coast of northern Honshu, the biggest island in Japan. More than 17,000 people's lives were lost, and essential utilities and buildings in were destroyed. Museums and collections were no exceptions.
On behalf of all museum colleagues struggling to overcome this difficult situation, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all heart-warming messages and supports given to us from ICOM individual members, National/International Committees and ICOM Executive Council.
